SUSSEX – Nancy Ardis-Wolfe, co-founder of Supplies for Soldiers, was honored by the Acting Secretary of the Army, Honorable Patrick J. Murphy, by receiving a challenge coin for meritorious service on May 17, 2016 during a ceremony at Picatinny Arsenal.
"I was surprised to receive this honor," said Ardis-Wolfe, who lives in Vernon, N.J. "We don’t do this for the accolades," she continued, "we do this for our soldiers."
Ardis-Wolfe was deployed to Afghanistan for six months last year. "While Nancy was deployed, she saw the PX was out of basic necessities," said Mark Wolfe, director of Supplies for Soldiers. "When she returned, we continued sending boxes of supplies. With the help of colleagues, this transformed into the nonprofit organization."
The coin ceremony, presided over by Honorable Acting Secretary Murphy, recognized Ardis-Wolfe for her work sending supplies to deployed service members. "I have never seen such an ambitious undertaking from someone who just returned from deployment," Murphy said during the ceremony. "I saw the collection boxes in different buildings during my tour and was impressed at how well this drive is going."
